add more Exception classes, and add checking for errnos.

We'll soon hit fundamental facts on errors in distributed systems.
#6144, hopefully.

Pushed another fix, hopefully master will be green. If not, we'll just disable
the yahoo tests. The problem is not that the errors are not supressed,
but that the tests are this fragile. @network hid this for months.

sparc fix is testng now...trivial...
