Obviously I haven't had time to fully review, but I'd like to make sure we don't loose any useful information in the process.
I also think it might be prudent, if low effort is required, to make the old site still available in archived mode.
Maybe the old site could be pushed to an "old site repo" which can be accessed via the github URL, which we could link to in a footnote on the new site, and, put a banner on the archived site to direct people to the new shiny site. I don't know if that represents a lot of work or not (for example, are the URLs hard coded or something horrible)

What would be the point? It has all the same data, all I did here is I
ripped out the old PHP based generator and replaced it with Jekyll
