Details

I would like to control how the git clone is performed. This is because I have sub-modules that contain large test files (to keep them from the repo it-self).
Hence when building the docs it will fetch these "huge" files, unnecessarily.

For your notice the travis build system disables recursive clones via:

git:
   submodules: false
  • Read the Docs project URL: sisl

Is this what you looking for? #3215

Also, there is a PR in progress for allowing a lot of configuration on submodules readthedocs/readthedocs-build#47

If that is, I think we can close this issue.
