I'm sorry for asking here, but there is no contact information on the site. I would like to delete my account , what is the procedure? Thank you.

Hrm, Might not be exposed in the UI currently. I can just delete it for you
if you'd like, and I'll keep this ticket around to expose it.

What is your account name?

Cheers,
Eric

Is there interest in adding this to the UI? I could give it a shot if so.

Sure! I have been looking at moving away from django-registration and
django-profiles, since they seem to be old and not really maintained
(specifically profiles) -- and more recent things have deleting/etc. built
in.

In my research it seemed like something like django-allauth might be a
nice replacement, but I haven't delved too deeply. I wouldn't mind having
the ability for people to login with Bitbucket or GitHub, so something that
supported that would be neat too.

Cool, I'll take a look at django-allauth and keep you updated on whether this is something I have the capacity to take on.

I looked at django-allauth, and it can definitely handle this sort of thing while keeping everything that's in place right now intact. Look for a possible pull request within the next couple of weeks.

Any thoughts on how the delete/deactivate feature should work would be appreciated, otherwise I'll go with what seems right to me.

Feel free to either completely delete the accounts, or have a flag for
de-activation. We don't really have any reason to keep the accounts around
though, so I'm generally +1 on wiping them. We aren't an evil corporation
that won't let you delete your accounts on purpose, just a lazy open source
project that hasn't implemented the feature yet :)

Sure, I'll try deleting accounts completely. Django User objects have an is_active flag that's recommended to use over deleting them, but that's just to avoid breaking other apps that have foreign keys to Users.

Hi, can you please delete my account 'timsastro' ? It seems that, through association with Github, I've ended up with two accounts, and that one is now defunct.

@grampajoe you still looking at this?

@Bachmann1234

@ericholscher do you have any guidance of what delete means in this context? Simply deactivating the user is fine. But for example just doing the easiest thing wont clear out their projects.

I suspect to do this right I would need to properly I would go though and delete the projects so the docs no longer get built for example. Anything else I may be missing?

@grampajoe

@Bachmann1234 Unfortunately, I wasn't able to spend enough time on this to do anything meaningful, but I'm happy to support with review and testing.

@ericholscher Could you please delete all the projects in my account(rrmerugu). I dont see any option to do that. If needed you may delete my account completely. I'm worried that these projects appear in the search engines and I seriously dont want that.

Please do the needful at the earliest .
Thanks in advance

Is there any reason why a new login+password pair is required in the first place? Wouldn't it be way more convenient to use Github/Bitbucket/whatever auth?

I'm locking this issue, as this is not the best place to ask for deletions. I've opened #3120 to suggest how to improve the account deletion process.
