Originally, mamba was suggested as a conda alternative because the mamba solver was faster than the old conda solver when creating environments. Now that conda uses libmamba as the default solver, I think we can recommend using conda again for development environments

Does conda use conda-forge as the default channel now?

When installing miniforge (which is recommended in our docs), conda-forge will be the default channel
