I'm personally -1 on this. Our navigation is already quite big, and we've got the Contribute
section already which links to the different kinds of contributions or donations we accept. Even if we could double the personal donations with this change, I think the amount of money (like $100 a month) wouldn't be worth having a too long and difficult to navigate bar in my opinion.
I don't know much about GitHub sponsors, but surely fine with that. Also, for donations via the website, I think there are other options, in my opinion better than this change, to make donations easier to discover. Starting by having the web navigation bar in the docs (there is no possible way to go from the docs to the website or donations page via clicking links now). Or also, we could run fundraising campaigns from time to time with a small banner at the top of all pages of our site.
Yeah that is a fair point! Just wanted to suggest this, let me know if I can be of any help on GitHub sponsors. |
I created #47960 to open a discussion with your points, probably better than using this PR. I see that we're using this for GitHub sposnors: https://github.com/pandas-dev/.github/blob/4af72faf8bd1e0f1d3f12401c559a3a4b2a9a68b/FUNDING.yml If you want to add a quick description on what it'd take what you suggest, that'd be amazing. I don't really know much about it. |
Closing this in favor of the discussion that was opened! |
It would also be really great to enable GitHub sponsors specifically for the Pandas Org since people might want to sponsor the org directly on GitHub (dev's / org's want to highlight their sponsorship publicly so GitHub sponsors is a great way to do so).
