Turn on line highlighter by default

Addresses issue #6438 to highlight current line by default. This helps people who are working with longer codes keep track of where they are typing.

I do not think that enabling this by default, especially without having preference to disable it again, is a good idea. It seems @facchinm was open to merging the addition of a checkbox in the preferences. @Alogitt, would you feel up to adding such a checkbox? If so, it is probably best to update this PR with further changes, rather than creating a new one.
