I have no idea what mary poppins is. "Greetings ... farewell" not sure what I'm supposed to do with that. 😕

@Sequoia, it basically means click on the link, fill in the form, and click "update issue".

@caitp Form wants me to log in, allow some 3rd party app to access my github account.

This application will be able to read and write all user data including private email addresses, SSH keys, profile information, and followers.
This application will have read and write access to code, issues, pull requests, wikis, settings, hooks, and deploy keys in both your public and private repositories.

No thanks. Github already has an issue tracking system, one which allows me to fork, PR, comment etc. without requiring me to hand over the keys to my github account. Why not use this issue system (called "Github Issues")?

The issue with it is that we often find that a lot of important information about an issue is missing, and we have a lot of trouble getting that information out of people. So this just does us a favour and asks people to provide some base info so that we have an easier time addressing issues.

Now, I'm not sure if we need to ask people about this for pull requests (/cc @btford --- please clarify this!), but yeah. It comes down to needing some information about exactly who this bug affects. Basically, the github issue tracker leaves a lot to be desired, which other trackers like google code or bugzilla will provide.
