Details

A user on IRC wanted to reclaim the stagnant Russian translation of the Godot docs. The underlying git repository for those docs appears to be deleted.

The ideal outcome would be any of the following:

  • Deleting the project on RTD so that another user who wants to actively maintain it can do so.
  • Giving the IRC user control over the RTD project so they can manage it and point it at an updated repository.

I am following the process we have for abandoned projects.

The user requesting access to the docs is here: https://readthedocs.org/profiles/Akien/

I have emailed the owner of the Russian translation to request that they either delete the project or give another user management privileges.

Thanks, I'm user Akien on RTD.

The current owner of the godot-ru project is @amulek84. I've tried contacting them by email using the email address found in their Git commits, but had no answer so far.

As I understand the policy requires 6 weeks before considering a user unreachable (and thus a project abandoned), so still 4 to go, I went ahead and used godot-rus instead of godot-ru, so that I can start shipping Russian documentation to our eager users.

I'd still be interested in seeing it renamed to godot-ru if/when that name becomes available for consistency with all other localized repos.

It looks to me like the author removed the project. He didn't respond to me though.

Ah indeed. Would it be possible to rename https://readthedocs.org/dashboard/godot-rus to godot-ru, or would it be simpler if I delete it and create anew?

I renamed it. Renaming is not a super common action in RTD. There might be a few inconsistencies before the next build but if there are any issues after the next build, let me know.
