0.3.3-rc does allow me to select COM ports and open/close said port. However no serial output comes from an open connection. If I close the COM port connection and connect with Putty I seen the output coming from the board.

[Edit]

The COM port connect icon doesn't change from the little plug to an "X" when connected to a COM port which leads to no way to disconnect other than restarting vscode.

[Edit]

I had done considerable hasty fixes and experiments trying to get the serial port problem resolved and I'm assuming I borked something up. I completely removed VSCodeUser and renamed the .vscode folder. When I reinstalled VSCodeUser and 0.3.3-rc the issue with not being able to toggle the COM port connection was resolved. There is still no data being returned from the connected COM port.

Odd, I see the x to disconnect on my Win10 machine and it seems to work. I'll see how this behaves elsewhere. I'm not going to block the current release on this issue as deploy has been broken for too long here.

@robotdad
I agree with letting the rc go. I'm going to try and revert to earlier versions. Totally removing vscode and reinstalling doesn't seem to fix.

This appears to be resolved in #1140
