Doesn't look like the current std and var functions have a ddof argument - I presume they should?

FWIW, in the array API standard, we use correction for the degrees of freedom adjustment. See, e.g., https://data-apis.org/array-api/latest/API_specification/generated/array_api.std.html#array_api.std.
