OS/Web Information

  • Web Browser: Chrome (latest)
  • Local OS: Windows 11 (latest)
  • Remote OS: Ubuntu Server
  • Remote Architecture: x86
  • code-server --version: 4.96.2

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use code-server via Chrome as normal for a few hours
  2. Suddenly my computer just becomes nearly unusable, 1 frame every 5 seconds or so
  3. Have to fight to close the code-server tab at 0.1 FPS then all is well again. Tested extensively, this only occurs with code-server and only on the client, the server is fine, no error ect.

Expected

Normal user experience

Actual

Normal for a few hours then a horrific laggy mess that resumes after reopening the tab after fighting to close

If it reproduces in Codespaces we should report it upstream (https://github.com/microsoft/vscode). I am not sure we change anything in VS Code that could cause this. 🤔
